High School Wins at Home
The Manheim Township Blue Streaks made their home debut in South Gym Thursday night and pulled out the 37 - 31 win over local rival Warwick High School. Despite missing some of it's normal fire power from the lineup, the Streaks were able to piece together the victory.
After Juan Colon (160) collected a forfeit at 160, Kevin Olavarria (172) went about his business as usual and collected the major decision 13-2. He used a slew of takedowns and cradles to collect his points.
Senior Jose Duran (189) put on an impressive showing in his dual debut. He overwhelmed his opponent and came away with a fall in 4:27. Michael O'hara (215) kept the bonus points coming as the savvy senior got a pin of his own in 2:24. Tyrese Washington, not to be outdone, secured a fall of his own in just 34 seconds.
The next few matches went the way of the Warriors as the Streaks lost close battles at 106-126. Josh Hillard (132) put the match back on track, earning a pin at 4:29. After another unfortunate loss at 138, it was sophomore Brennan Zeyak (145) who secured the victory for the Blue Streaks. Zeyak hustled his way to several takedowns and a cradle to earn an 11-4 victory. A win for the warriors at the final weight of the night brought the final score to 37-31.
The next outing for the High School squad will be tomorrow at home in the Arena when we host our Blue Streak Duals. Wrestling starts at 9:00am.
