After a three week break the Junior High Blue Streaks took the mat and picked right up were they left off against J.P. McCaskey last night. The Blue Streaks improved to 2-0 on the season with a 65-12 victory. The match started at the 190 pound weight class with Township collecting forfeits at 190, 210, and 250.
Circling around to the top of the order action began with 7th grade 80 pounder Armani Malave who used an arsenal of turns on top to pick up a 19-3 tech fall. 7th grader Avery Brosemer had a dominant performance on the mat collecting a fall in the 101 pound bout. In the 122 pound weight class first year wrestler and 8th grader Jerry Richards collected a 9-2 victory.
The Blue Streaks picked up wins from Malcom Sams (108), Logan Martin (170), and collected forfeits at 130, 138, 145, 155, 190, 210, and 250. It was a great overall effort by the team and good to see them continue building momentum this season! The Blue Streaks will be back in action Thursday evening at home against Warwick. The match will begin at 5:30 pm.
Our wrestler of the night award goes to 80 pounder Armani Malave! Beating your opponent by 15 or more points is quite an impressive feat. He seemed to do it with ease last night. When asking Armani what his thoughts were leading up the match he said, "I'm just glad I made weight and wanted to have fun out on the mat wrestling"!
